Welcome to Speedrunning & challenges. This board is for going fast and playing differently: speedruns, routes, glitches, personal bests, races, randomisers and challenge runs such as Nuzlockes, no-hit runs, pacifist runs and minimum-damage attempts. Whether you are chasing a world record or just beat your own time by a second, we want to hear about it. What belongs here • Your personal bests and run write-ups. • Routing, strategies, tricks and practice tips. • Discussion of famous runs, marathons and runners. • Challenge run ideas and rule sets. • Questions about timers, splits and setting up recording. What goes elsewhere • General chat about a game: Retro gaming talk, PC gaming or the right game board. • ROM hack and randomiser patches themselves: ROM hacks & fan games. • Finding race partners: Looking for group works too. A bit of speedrunning vocabulary • Any percent: finish the game as fast as possible by any means the rules allow. • 100 percent: complete everything the category defines. • Glitchless: no major glitches, as the category defines them. • RTA is real-time timing; IGT is in-game time. Each leaderboard says which it uses. • Splits break a run into sections so you can see where you gain or lose time. LiveSplit is a popular free timer. Rules for this board • Credit runners. If you use someone's route or trick, name them. • Follow the leaderboard rules for your game and category. Categories, timing and banned tricks are set by each game's community and can change. • No cheating claims without evidence. If you have genuine concerns about a run, raise them calmly with the leaderboard moderators rather than calling someone out here. • No spliced or faked runs presented as real. • No piracy: emulator rules vary by leaderboard, but we never share ROMs or point to where to get them. • Be encouraging. Every runner started slow. Tips for new runners Pick a game you love, watch a few current runs, read the leaderboard rules, and practise one section at a time. Record your attempts; reviewing footage shows mistakes you do not notice while playing. The house rules The general rules apply: be kind, English only (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so start your own thread to share your run. Dexter
