PSP Tube, from download to update.
Installation, device selection, account linking and useful troubleshooting for KZE’s PSP app.
KZE guide · Updated
Check your setup first
This guide describes PSP Tube v1.0.5, build 122. The current release target is PSP 3000. Earlier real-device playback and update reports used a PSP 3003 running 6.61 with ARK-4. That is a reported setup, not a complete test of every feature in build 122 or every firmware.
A suitable homebrew or custom-firmware runtime is required; stock firmware alone cannot run this package. Online playback also requires Wi-Fi and a working saved PSP network connection. Compatibility with every modern router configuration has not been established.
- PSP 3000 / 3003
- Current v1.0.5 release target. Earlier playback and update reports use a PSP 3003 with 6.61 and ARK-4; complete build 122 hardware coverage is not yet confirmed.
- PSP 1000 / 2000
- Not yet verified on hardware. A downloadable build or a model selection is not confirmation of compatibility.
- PSP Go
- Hardware compatibility has not yet been verified. Check the download picker for a published build.
- PSP Street
- This model has no Wi-Fi, so online playback is unavailable. Local playback has not been verified.
- PS Vita
- Planned platform. No verified Vita package or supported runtime is currently documented.
The full package uses roughly 5 MB once extracted. Allow additional storage for settings, diagnostics, updates and backups; a tested minimum free-space requirement has not yet been established. Keep a backup and charge the device before installing or updating.
Start with the full installation package
The website download and the in-app updater serve different files. For a first installation, use the ZIP from the PSP Tube project page. The v1.0.5 Free package is named PSPTube-v1.0.5-free.zip. It contains the app and its accompanying assets and licence notices. A standalone OTA EBOOT.PBP is a replacement executable, not the full installation package.
- Check your exact device model and the build available for it on the project page. The presence of a model in the picker does not mean a build has been published for it.
- Back up an existing PSP Tube folder before replacing files. Your device must already support running PSP homebrew; this guide does not install or change firmware.
- Extract the ZIP on your computer. Its app folder is
PSP/GAME/PSPTUBE_INDEPENDENT. Copy that folder intoPSP/GAMEon your PSP storage, retaining the assets and accompanying files. Copy the complete folder, including its font and licence notices; copying only EBOOT.PBP is not enough. - Safely disconnect the storage and launch PSP Tube from the PSP’s Game menu. Check that you copied the extracted folder, rather than the ZIP itself or an extra nested folder. Enable WLAN and test your saved network connection before playback.
PSP 1000, 2000 and 3000 are different models. Use the release’s stated compatibility and the community reports for your model. Availability and test coverage are shown on the project page; PS Vita and other future platforms should not be assumed compatible with a PSP build.
Playback, quality and saved videos
Use the D-pad to browse search results and related videos. PSP Tube includes playback controls, seeking, saved bookmarks, language preferences and a local MP4 browser. The local file browser is for files already on your storage; it does not download YouTube videos. A saved YouTube video is a bookmark and still needs an online connection to play.
In v1.0.5, 360p is the default playback quality. 480p is experimental, works only with compatible videos and can fall back to 360p. 720p playback is unavailable. Video frame rate, buffering and reliability vary; a responsive interface does not guarantee 60-fps video or uninterrupted playback.
Free and Premium currently provide the same playback features. Membership supports KZE development and access to eligible member builds and other premium KZE apps as published. It is separate from YouTube Premium and does not grant access to restricted third-party content. PSP Tube is unofficial and is not endorsed by Google, YouTube or Sony.
Link your KZE account with a code
Free releases do not need a Patreon membership. For eligible member updates, sign in to your KZE account, connect Patreon and generate an account-link code inside PSP Tube. The app shows an eight-character code, usually grouped as four characters, a hyphen and four more.
- On your computer or phone, open kze.info/account/link and sign in to your verified KZE account.
- Enter the code displayed on your own PSP. Review the app, model and account before approving.
- Approve the link and return to PSP Tube. Keep the app open while it finishes confirmation. Codes expire after ten minutes; generate another if yours expires.
Only approve a code showing on a device you control. The linked app receives access for app updates, not your website login. Linked-account credentials on the PSP are not encrypted and may also remain in backups. Keep the storage private. Before sharing or selling a device, or if it is lost, revoke its link from your linked apps.
Understand update channels and editions
A stable release is the regular release channel. Beta and development releases are earlier builds intended for testing. KZE checks the app, device model, selected edition and channel, installed build and current membership before offering a protected update.
Supporter includes eligible stable Premium builds across KZE; Insider adds published early, beta and development builds. A channel label alone does not mean a build has additional features. Membership changes depend on synchronization and the app’s next online check. KZE membership is separate from YouTube Premium. Core YouTube playback in PSP Tube remains free, and a membership does not grant rights to third-party content.
The updater checks a downloaded update before installation and keeps the previous executable for recovery. Keep the device powered and leave enough free storage for the update and backup. Preserve your own backup too; an updater cannot protect against every storage or power failure.
Use the website ZIP for a fresh installation or a missing-assets problem. Use the app’s updater for a published executable update. A “no update” result can mean you already have the offered build or there is no newer eligible release for that model and channel. Updates do not replace missing external assets. A power or storage failure can still require restoring the full ZIP over USB.
When something does not work
- The app is missing or shows as corrupted
- Check the extracted folder path and confirm EBOOT.PBP and the assets are present. Check the device and firmware requirements before trying again. Do not install a build intended for a different platform.
- The app immediately exits or its interface is missing
- Restore the full installation ZIP, especially
assets/Interface.ttf. The bundled font is required; missing or unreadable assets can prevent startup. - The link code expired
- Generate a new code in the app. Never reuse a code sent to you by someone else. Check the signed-in website account before approving it.
- “Could not resolve host”
- Test the saved network connection and DNS settings, then retry when connectivity is restored. This message indicates a network problem; reinstalling the app may not resolve it.
- HTTPS or certificate errors
- Check the PSP’s date, time and saved network connection. Do not disable certificate verification or substitute an HTTP update server.
- Member updates are unavailable
- Check your connected Patreon status, tier and selected channel. A linked device alone does not grant membership. Reconnect an expired or revoked app link when prompted.
- Playback or network behaviour changed
- Network conditions and third-party service changes can affect playback independently of the installed version. Try 360p and another video, and allow time for playback to load. Record the exact error and when it occurred; repeatedly reinstalling may not address a service problem.
Report the result for your device
On the project page, select the version and edition you installed, your device model, whether it worked and a rating. Add your firmware and homebrew runtime, quality setting, exact error and clear reproduction steps when relevant. Reports are grouped by version and model, which makes them more useful than a simple star average.
Your username and submitted device details are public. Keep private account information out of the review. For account access, privacy or a sensitive issue, contact KZE privately. Review diagnostic excerpts before sharing them and remove account details and private information. Do not upload your entire app folder or storage card as a support report.
