This board is for the engineers: farms, flying machines, piston doors, sorting systems, clocks, mob switches, tick mechanics and everything that makes Minecraft tick. Beginners learning their first repeater and veterans optimising iron farms are equally welcome.

What goes elsewhere
Pretty builds without the circuitry go in Builds & screenshots, and something that is genuinely broken (the game crashing, not a farm that will not work) goes in Help & troubleshooting.
Java and Bedrock are different
Redstone behaves differently between the two editions. Java has quirks such as quasi-connectivity that many designs rely on, while Bedrock has its own timing and piston behaviour. Mob spawning rules also differ. A design built for one edition often will not work on the other, so always say which edition and version you are on, and check that a tutorial matches yours.
Tips for getting help
• Post clear screenshots from several angles, or a short description of each layer.
• Say what you expected to happen and what actually happens.
• Updates can change mechanics, so a design that worked a few versions ago may need tweaks.
• Credit the original designer when you share or adapt someone else's design.
Rules for this board
• No lag machines or designs intended to crash or damage other people's servers.
• No duping exploits for use on public servers.
• Keep it friendly when someone's design is less efficient than yours.
The usual bits
