This is the place for Apple's phones and tablets, old and new: everyday tips, great apps, sideloading, jailbreaking, and giving older iPhones, iPads and iPod touches something useful to do. You do not need the latest model to belong here. Some of our favourite threads are about devices Apple stopped updating years ago.
How this forum is organised
Threads go into the subforums below:
• General discussion: news, setups, buying advice and general iPhone and iPad chat.
• Jailbreaking: current jailbreaks, tweaks, and staying on a version that can be jailbroken.
• Old iPads & iPhones: legacy iOS, downgrades, old apps and making old devices useful again.
• Sideloading & apps: AltStore, SideStore, alternative app marketplaces where available, and great apps.
• Help & troubleshooting: when something is broken and you need a hand.
If you are unsure, post in General discussion and a moderator can move it.
What belongs in other forums
• Android devices go in Android.
• Apple Watch and other wearables go in Smartwatches & wearables.
• Classic, nano, shuffle and mini iPods, Rockbox and iPod mods go in iPod & music players. The iPod touch runs iOS, so it belongs here.
• Macs go in macOS & old Macs.
A few things worth knowing
• Keep a backup before anything big, either in iCloud or on a computer. An encrypted local backup also keeps saved passwords and health data.
• Apple usually stops signing older iOS versions soon after a new one comes out, which means you generally cannot install an older version later. This is why jailbreakers are careful about updating.
• What can be jailbroken depends on the device's chip and its exact iOS version, and it changes over time. Check current information rather than old videos.
• Activation Lock ties a device to its owner's Apple Account. A second-hand device that is still locked to someone else is not usable, and we cannot help with that.
Legal and safety rules
• No piracy: no cracked IPAs, no 'free paid apps' services, no shared developer certificates sold for piracy, and no asking where to find any of it.
• No Activation Lock, passcode or carrier lock bypasses for devices that are not yours. Ask only about your own devices and be ready to say how you got it.
• No malware, spyware or tools for getting into someone else's device or account.
• No selling, trading or paid unlocking services.
The usual house rules
The general KZE rules apply: be kind, English only (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report if you see something that breaks the rules and the team will look at it.
