Welcome to 3DS Help & troubleshooting. If your 3DS or 2DS is misbehaving, whether it's completely stock or running custom firmware, ask here and the community will help you get it working. What belongs here • Consoles that won't power on, won't charge, or crash at boot. • Black screens, error screens and home menu problems. • Hardware faults: hinges, cracked screens, sticky buttons, worn circle pads, cartridge slot problems. • SD card errors and missing data. • Custom firmware problems, such as a setup that stopped working after an update. What doesn't belong here • Homebrew discussion and projects go in Custom firmware & homebrew. • Theme design and sharing go in Themes & customisation, though theme crashes are fine here. • General chat goes in General discussion. How to ask so people can help Please include: • Exact model: 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS, New 3DS XL or New 2DS XL. • System version, shown in System Settings, and your region. • Stock or modified. If modified, your Luma3DS version and how it was installed. • What you were doing, what you expected and what happened. • Any error text, copied exactly, or a clear photo of the screen. • What you've already tried. Things to try first 1. Hold the power button until the console switches off fully, then start it again. 2. Try a different, known-good SD card, or test yours on a computer. Bad or fake cards cause a lot of trouble. 3. On a modified console, hold Select while turning it on to check that Luma3DS settings appear. That tells helpers a lot. 4. If a homebrew app or theme crashes the home menu, remove the most recent change first. 5. Don't delete files or format anything in a panic. Many problems are recoverable if you stop and ask. Hardware and safety • Replacement batteries are widely available. Swollen batteries should be removed and disposed of properly, never charged. • Opening a 3DS involves small screws and fragile ribbon cables. Take photos as you go, and disconnect the battery before working. • Circle pads and hinges are common wear points on older units. What we can't help with No help with piracy tools, game files, ROMs, CIAs, seeds or keys, and nothing that requires them to work. When it's fixed Reply with what worked, and add "Solved" to the start of your thread title. It helps the next person. House rules Be patient and kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules.
