Buying a used PS3
• Note the model number and ask about the firmware version. Model affects whether full custom firmware is possible, so ask in CFW, HFW & HEN if that matters to you.
• Listen for loud fans and watch for overheating. Older fat models are prone to heat-related faults.
• Check the disc drive reads discs and the controller holds a charge.
• If you want PS2 disc playback through hardware, read up first, as only certain early fat models have it.
Keep it friendly
Fat versus Slim versus Super Slim is a fun debate. Keep it a debate, not a fight.
No piracy
Talk about games all you like, but no links to or requests for ISOs, PKGs, licence files or where to find them. Back up your own games.
