Welcome to Game collecting.
This board is for collectors of physical games: boxed cartridges, complete-in-box copies, sealed games, limited editions, special edition consoles, shelf tours and the thrill of a great car boot sale or charity shop find. PSP UMDs, Game Boy carts, PS1 big boxes, SNES boxed copies and modern limited physical runs are all welcome.

Collecting vocabulary
• Loose: just the cartridge or disc.
• CIB: complete in box, with the game, box and manual.
• Sealed: still in its factory seal. Reseals exist, so be careful.
• Graded: assessed and sealed in a case by a grading company.
Spotting reproduction cartridges
Repro carts are common for popular retro games. Warning signs include blurry, glossy or slightly off-colour labels, the wrong plastic colour or texture, unusual weight and screws that do not match. Opening a cart with the right security screwdriver lets you check the board: genuine boards usually carry the manufacturer's markings, while many repros use generic boards with blob-covered chips. Compare with a known genuine copy whenever possible.
Care and storage
Keep games away from direct sunlight, heat and damp. Use plastic box protectors for boxed games. Many older cartridges have save batteries that eventually die; replacing them is a known repair, but back up saves first if you can.
Rules for this board
• No ROMs, ISOs or dumps shared, even of games you own.
• No repro carts sold or promoted as genuine.
• Never post photos showing your address or full order details.
The house rules
The general rules apply: be kind, English only (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so start your own thread to show us your shelves.
