Welcome to Switch Homebrew & modding. This board is for legal homebrew on the original Switch family: custom firmware, homebrew apps, themes, save tools, emulators for systems you own, and hardware mods. Please read this fully before posting, because the rules here are stricter than elsewhere. What belongs here • Custom firmware setup and discussion, such as Atmosphère with the Hekate bootloader. • Homebrew apps and games made by the community, and your own homebrew projects. • Save backup and restore tools, themes, overlays and sysmodules. • Emulators and ports, used with games and BIOS files you've dumped yourself. • Hardware mods: modchips, battery and fan replacements, shell swaps and lighting. What doesn't belong here • If your setup is broken and you need fixing, Help & troubleshooting may get you faster answers. Homebrew-specific problems are fine here too. • Game recommendations and Nintendo news go in Games & news. • General chat goes in General discussion. • Switch 2 hacking is not discussed on KZE at this time. The piracy rules, plainly • No sharing or requesting prod.keys, title keys, firmware files or console-unique data. Not by message, not in screenshots, not in hints. • No game files (NSP, XCI, NSZ and similar), no ROMs, ISOs or BIOS files, and no asking where to find them. • No piracy-focused installers, shops or tools, and no help using them. • Dump your own games, keys and firmware from your own console and keep them private. Breaking these rules gets threads removed and can lead to a ban. Starter knowledge • Unpatched versus patched: some early launch consoles can be booted into custom firmware using a recovery-mode exploit. Revised, Lite and OLED models need a soldered modchip. Your serial number gives a clue, but ask if unsure. • Back up your NAND first, before anything else, and keep the backup safe and off the SD card. It's your way back if things go wrong. • emuMMC runs a copy of the system from the SD card, so your stock system stays clean. Many people keep stock online and custom firmware offline. • Bans are real. Nintendo can and does ban consoles that connect to its servers with signs of modification. Never take a modified setup online unless you accept that risk. • Updates matter. System updates can break custom firmware until the tools catch up, so check the latest pinned news before updating. • Use a good-quality SD card, formatted properly. Many "mysterious" problems are cheap or fake cards. Hardware mods and safety • Modchip installs involve fine soldering. If you've not soldered before, practise on scrap boards first or ask someone experienced. • Disconnect the battery before working inside the console. • Treat lithium batteries with respect: don't puncture, bend or short them, and dispose of swollen ones safely. • Post clear photos of your work if you want feedback, and credit the designers of any chips, cases or guides you used. House rules Everything else in the KZE rules applies: be kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing, no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that crosses the line. This thread is locked, so start your own thread for questions or projects. Dexter
