Welcome to Wii & Wii U General discussion. This is the relaxed board for the games, the hardware and the memories: from Wii Sports nights to the Wii U's underrated library. What belongs here • Favourite games, hidden gems and recommendations for both consoles. • Collecting: boxed games, special editions, accessories like the Balance Board, Wii Zapper and Wii MotionPlus. • Setups: getting a good picture on a modern TV, cables, sensor bar placement. • Memories of the Wii channels, Miiverse and the Wii U eShop. • Which console to buy and what to look for. What doesn't belong here • The Homebrew Channel, Aroma, USB loaders and hardware mods go in Homebrew & mods. • If something is broken, from a disc drive to a GamePad that won't pair, ask in Help & troubleshooting. • GameCube topics go in GameCube & N64, though playing GameCube games on a Wii is fine here. Tips for newcomers • The Wii outputs standard definition only. Component cables give the sharpest picture on TVs that accept them, and HDMI adapters are a convenient option, though quality varies. • The Wii U outputs HD over HDMI and plays Wii games and accessories. • Early Wii models play GameCube games and have GameCube ports. Later models and the Wii Mini don't. • Wii MotionPlus is needed for some games. The Wii Remote Plus has it built in. • The sensor bar is just infrared lights, so it can sit above or below the TV. Set the position in the system settings. • When buying a Wii U second-hand, check that the GamePad is included and paired. A replacement GamePad needs pairing too. Collecting tips • Disc rot is rare but real. Store discs upright, away from heat and sunlight. • Many Wii U games are now only available second-hand, as the eShop no longer sells games. What isn't allowed • No ISOs, WADs, game files or where to find them, and no requests. • No buying, selling or trading on this board. • Crop personal details out of photos. House rules The KZE house rules apply: be kind, English only (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. If something breaks the rules, Report it. This thread is locked, so start your own thread to join the conversation. Dexter
