Welcome to PS5 News & rumours. This is where we keep track of what is happening with the PS5: system updates, Sony announcements, showcases, hardware revisions, leaks and the occasional bit of industry gossip.
What belongs here
• System software updates and what they change.
• Official announcements from Sony and developers.
• Hardware news, new models and accessories.
• Leaks and rumours, clearly marked as such.
• Jailbreak-related news, such as a new exploit being announced. Discussion of how to use it belongs in Jailbreak & homebrew.
What goes elsewhere
• General chat: General discussion.
• Game impressions and reviews: Games & trophies.
• Strong opinions about the news: Rants & opinions, or keep it civil in the news thread.
• Problems after an update: Help & troubleshooting.
How to post news
• Say where it came from. Name the source, such as an official blog, a developer's announcement or a reputable outlet. We do not allow links, so describe the source clearly.
• Put the key facts in your own words. Do not paste whole articles.
• Use a clear, factual title. No clickbait.
• Check whether someone has already posted it. If so, add to that thread.
Rumours
Rumours are welcome as long as they are marked as rumours. Start the title with "Rumour:" and say who is claiming it and how reliable they have been before. If a rumour is confirmed or debunked, post an update in the same thread.
A word on firmware updates
Every update is news, but whether you should install it depends on you. If you care about homebrew, check the jailbreak pinned threads first. If you play online and do not care about homebrew, updates are usually the safer bet.
Not allowed
No leaked builds, firmware files from unofficial sources, stolen material, links to pirated content or personal information about developers or staff.
House rules
Be kind, keep it in English (other languages are translated automatically), and no spam, keyboard mashing or self-promotion spam. If you see something that breaks the rules, Report it. This thread is locked, so start a new thread for your news.
