#1Cover for PSP Tube 2.0 is out: channels, playlists, subtitles and a new home screen
Hey everyone, Dexter here. PSP Tube 2.0 is out now, and it's the biggest update yet: a new home screen, channel pages, playlists, subtitles, resume, colour themes and a long list of fixes. A lot of it came straight from your reviews and suggestions, so thank you. HOW TO GET IT • Already have PSP Tube? Open Settings > Check for updates and install 2.0. It downloads over Wi-Fi and installs itself, no computer needed. • New to PSP Tube? Download the ZIP from the PSP Tube app page (kze.info/apps/psp-tube), extract it and copy the PSP folder to the root of your memory stick, so the app ends up in PSP/GAME/PSPTUBE. You need custom firmware such as ARK-4. The first time 2.0 opens, a What's new screen walks you through everything below, with a button that takes you straight to each feature. WHAT'S NEW A NEW HOME SCREEN Shared by the author The home screen now feels much more like YouTube. Recommended for you fills with videos based on what you've searched for, with the thumbnail, title, channel and view count (shortened to K and M). The old list of buttons is now a clean row of icons: Search, Library, Local, Wi-Fi and Settings. Press TRIANGLE on a video to save it, or R to open its channel. CHANNEL PAGES Shared by the author Search now finds channels as well as videos. Shared by the author Open a channel to see its banner, profile picture, subscribers, number of videos, and tabs for Videos, Shorts, Live, Playlists and About (with the channel's description). You can move across the tabs as fast as you like: a tab only loads once you stop on it, so you're never stuck waiting. There are lots of ways to reach a channel: pick it in search, press R on any video, choose Go to channel from a video's options, or press UP while watching. SUBTITLES AND THE CHANNEL BUTTON Shared by the author • Subtitles: turn them on in Settings > Subtitles, then press SQUARE while watching to hide or show them. • The channel's profile picture now sits in the top right of the player. Press UP to open the channel. • Press DOWN for related videos. JUMP TO ANY TIME Shared by the author Seeking used to move a few seconds at a time. Now you press LEFT or RIGHT to pick a time, and the steps get bigger the more you press (10 seconds, then 30, then a minute). L and R move a whole minute. The video keeps playing while you choose, then jumps to your time once you stop pressing for a moment. X jumps straight away and O cancels. PICK UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF Shared by the author Videos now resume from where you stopped. And instead of a spinner, a video's thumbnail fills up as it loads, so you can see how far along it is. OPTIONS FOR EVERY VIDEO Shared by the author Press SQUARE on any video for: Play, Description and details, Go to channel, Add to playlist, Save or Remove from Saved, and Related videos. Shared by the author Description and details shows the full description, views, upload date and the channel with its subscriber count. LIBRARY: SAVED, HISTORY AND PLAYLISTS Shared by the author Library now has three tabs (switch with L and R): • Saved: your saved videos, as before. • History: everything you've watched and how far you got, so you can resume any of it. • Playlists: make your own (name them with the PSP keyboard), add videos from any video's options, and use Play all to watch them in order. You can also open and save YouTube playlists you find in search. Shared by the author You can clear your watch and search history any time in Settings. COLOUR THEMES Shared by the author Settings > Theme colour has eight themes for the whole app: Teal (the default), YouTube Red, Ocean Blue, Royal Purple, Sunset Orange, Forest Green, Sakura Pink and Midnight Black, with a live preview before you apply one. Shared by the author REPORT A PROBLEM If something goes wrong, press TRIANGLE on the error screen to send us the error along with the end of the app's log, so we can see exactly what happened. You can also send a report from Settings > Report a problem. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send it. USAGE STATISTICS PSP Tube now sends a small anonymous check-in once per launch: a random install ID, the app version, your PSP model and the update channel. It tells us how many people use the app and which versions are still around. No account, IP address or watch history is included, and you can turn it off any time in Settings > Usage statistics. FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS • Searching no longer fails with "Request failed: Timeout was reached (HTTP 0)". The app now waits longer for a connection, starts a fresh one after the PSP has been idle, and retries once if a request times out. • Titles with emoji and special symbols no longer show empty boxes, and full-width characters show as normal text. • Channel tabs no longer make you wait for each one to load as you move across them. • Recommendations now show the correct view count. • Subtitles move out of the way while you're picking a time. • Plus plenty of smaller layout and stability fixes. CONTROLS AT A GLANCE • Home and lists: X play or open, SQUARE options, TRIANGLE save, R channel, START search, SELECT quit • Watching: X pause, O stop, LEFT / RIGHT pick a time, L / R one minute, UP channel, DOWN related, SQUARE subtitles • Library: L / R switch tab COMPATIBILITY • PSP 3000 / 3003: the main target, tested on 6.61 with ARK-4. • PSP 1000 / 2000: the update is offered, but it isn't verified on hardware yet. Please let us know how it goes. • PSP Go: not verified yet. PSP Street has no Wi-Fi, so online playback isn't available. FOUND A PROBLEM? Use the Report button in the app first, as it sends us the log. Then post in Help & troubleshooting with your PSP model, firmware and what you were doing. Ideas for the next update are very welcome in Discussion. Thanks again for every review and suggestion that went into this one. Enjoy 2.0! — Dexter

UPDATE: PSP Tube 2.0.1 is out (28 October 2026) Thank you to everyone who pressed Report on an error screen. We read every report from the first two days of 2.0, and this update fixes what was on our side and makes every other error explain itself. HOW TO GET IT • Already on PSP Tube? Open Settings > Check for updates and install 2.0.1. It's offered to everyone on 2.0 and 1.0.8. • New to PSP Tube? The download on the app page (kze.info/apps/psp-tube) is now 2.0.1. WHAT'S FIXED • Long videos open again. Anything longer than about 3 hours (10-hour mixes, livestream recordings) failed with "The stream fragment is incomplete". They now play. • Slow Wi-Fi no longer gives up. On a slow connection the app used to stop loading a video after 8 seconds, even while it was still downloading. It now keeps going as long as data is arriving. • Announcements show again. 2.0 had stopped showing news from KZE on the home screen. That's fixed for everyone, no update needed. CLEARER ERROR SCREENS Shared by the author Error screens used to show a technical message and not much else. Now each one says what happened and what you can do about it, with the technical details underneath. The most common ones from your reports: • "Your custom firmware can't play videos": PSP Tube needs ARK-4 or ARK-5. Older custom firmware like LME, PRO-C or ME, and Adrenaline on a PS Vita, can't start the PSP's video chip. • "This doesn't look like a real PSP": emulators such as PPSSPP don't have the PSP's video chip, so videos can't play there. • "Your Wi-Fi connection dropped": move closer to the router and turn off WLAN Power Save in the PSP's Settings > Power Save Settings. A lower quality in PSP Tube's Settings also helps. • "Your PSP's date or time is wrong": secure connections need the right date. Set it in the PSP's Settings > System Settings > Date & Time Settings. • "YouTube won't let this video play": the video is age-restricted, blocked in your country, members-only, private or a premiere that hasn't started. Try another one. If the fix on screen doesn't help, press TRIANGLE to send us the report. It now includes more detail when YouTube sends back something unexpected, which helps us track down the rarer problems. GOOD NEWS FOR PSP 1000 OWNERS Reports show PSP Tube 2.0 playing videos on the PSP 1000. It still isn't fully verified, so please tell us in Help & troubleshooting how it runs on yours. Thanks again for the reports. Keep them coming! — Dexter
