Welcome to Wii & Wii U Help & troubleshooting. If your Wii, Wii Mini or Wii U is misbehaving, whether it's stock or running homebrew, ask here and the community will help. What belongs here • Consoles that won't power on, show no picture, or freeze. • Disc drive problems: won't read, won't eject, noisy. • Wii Remote, sensor bar, GamePad and controller pairing problems. • Homebrew problems, such as the Homebrew Channel or Aroma not loading. • Brick recovery questions. • Network and community online service problems. What doesn't belong here • Homebrew discussion and finished projects go in Homebrew & mods. • Game recommendations and collecting go in General discussion. • GameCube hardware goes in GameCube & N64. How to ask so people can help Please include: • Exact console: Wii, Wii Family Edition, Wii Mini or Wii U, and its region. • System version, shown in the system settings. • Stock or modified. If modified, what you installed, and whether you have BootMii, Priiloader or a NAND backup. • What you were doing, what you expected and what happened. • Any error code or message, copied exactly, or a photo of the screen. • What you've already tried. Things to try first 1. Unplug the console from the mains for a minute, then try again. 2. For no picture, try a different cable and input, and on the Wii check the TV resolution settings. 3. For Wii Remote problems, resync with the red button, check the sensor bar is connected, and try fresh batteries. 4. For disc read errors, clean the disc and try a different game to see whether it's the disc or the drive. 5. For homebrew that won't load, try another SD card. Many problems are bad or oddly formatted cards. 6. If a Wii won't boot after a change, stop and ask before doing anything else. With Priiloader or BootMii installed, it's often recoverable. Safety • Unplug the console before opening it. The Wii U power supply should never be opened. • Clean dust from vents carefully. Overheating causes many freezes. • If you're replacing thermal paste, take photos as you go. What we can't help with No ISOs, WADs, game files, keys or firmware files, and nothing that depends on them. When it's fixed Reply with what worked and add "Solved" to the start of your title. House rules Be patient and kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules.
