Welcome to 3D printing Whether you have a Bambu Lab, Prusa, Creality, Elegoo, Anycubic, a Voron or a printer you built from a kit, this is your forum. Filament and resin, slicers, firmware, upgrades and the designs that make our consoles and handhelds better all live here. How this forum is organised Threads go into the subforums: • General discussion: news, printer choices, filaments, slicers and chat • Show your prints: finished prints, failures and everything in between • Designs for consoles & handhelds: stands, grips, shells, docks and cases • Printer upgrades & mods: Klipper, hotends, enclosures and making printers better • Help & troubleshooting: stringing, warping, adhesion and other headaches Neighbouring boards • Laser cutters and CNC machines: Laser cutting & CNC • Printed cases for portable computers: Cyberdecks • Full handheld builds: DIY handhelds & portables • Electronics inside your printed project: Electronics & PCB design Starter knowledge • The first layer decides almost everything. Level the bed or run your printer's mesh levelling, set the Z offset carefully and keep the build plate clean and free of grease. • PLA is the easy starting point. PETG is tougher and a bit stringier. ABS and ASA cope with heat better but warp without an enclosure. TPU is flexible and likes slow speeds. • Many filaments absorb moisture. Wet filament pops, strings and prints weakly, so dry it and store it sealed. • Popular slicers include PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, Cura and Bambu Studio. Most printers run Marlin, Klipper or the maker's own firmware. Safety is part of the rules • Printing ABS and ASA releases fumes. Use an enclosure and ventilate the room, ideally with filtration or venting outside. • Resin irritates skin and eyes and can cause sensitisation over time. Wear nitrile gloves and eye protection, ventilate well, keep it away from children and pets, and never pour resin or dirty isopropyl alcohol down the drain. Cure waste before disposing of it. • Make sure thermal runaway protection is enabled in your firmware, keep a smoke alarm nearby and do not leave a new or modified printer running unattended. • Hotends and beds are hot enough to burn. Unplug before working on wiring. • Mains wiring at the power supply belongs with people qualified to do it. Rules for the whole forum • Respect design licences. Share only files you have the right to share, never reupload paid or non-commercial models, and credit designers. • Nothing piracy-friendly and no pirated files. • No malware, no selling prints or files, and no paid services. House rules apply: be kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report if something needs a look.
