Welcome to Browser & web games. This board is for games you can play in a browser tab: io games, HTML5 games, classic Flash games, browser puzzle games, idle games and the preservation work that keeps old web games playable. If you grew up on lunchtime browser games at school, or you are still chasing a high score in an io game, you are in the right place. What belongs here • io games and multiplayer browser games, strategies and favourite servers. • HTML5 and WebGL games, including browser builds of indie games. • Flash games, memories and the hunt for half-remembered titles. • Flash preservation: Ruffle, Flashpoint and getting old games running again. • Idle, incremental and daily puzzle games. What goes elsewhere • Roblox has its own board: Roblox. • Downloadable indie games: Indie & homebrew games. • Free giveaways of downloadable games: Free games & deals. • Finding people to play with: Looking for group. • Racing to beat a game quickly: Speedrunning & challenges. Flash preservation in brief Adobe ended support for Flash Player at the end of 2020, and modern browsers no longer run it. Two projects keep those games alive: • Ruffle is an open-source Flash emulator that runs in modern browsers. Many websites now use it to keep their Flash games playable. Older Flash content tends to work best; support for newer content keeps improving, but not everything works yet. • Flashpoint is a large preservation project with a launcher that lets you play archived web games offline or on demand. Both are free. Only get them from their official sources. Rules for this board • No links to sites full of stolen or re-uploaded commercial games, or unblocked game sites designed to get around school or work filters. • No cheats, bots or scripts for multiplayer games. • No browser extensions or downloads from unknown sources. • Watch out for scam sites that ask for logins or payment to play a free game. • Never share personal details in game chats, and do not post other people's usernames to call them out. Tips If you are trying to identify a lost game, describe the art style, the rough year you played it, what you did in it and any characters you remember. Someone usually knows. The house rules KZE's general rules apply here too: be kind, keep posts in English (anything in another language is translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so please start your own thread for questions or recommendations. Dexter
