Welcome to the Anbernic forum. Anbernic makes one of the widest ranges of handhelds around, from pocket Linux devices like the RG35XX family and its many siblings to Android models such as the RG406 and RG477M. Many of us started our handheld journey with one, and this is the place to talk about all of them.
How this forum is organised
Threads go into one of three subforums:
• General discussion: news, setups, impressions, accessories and chat about any Anbernic device
• Custom firmware: Knulli, muOS, ROCKNIX, ArkOS on older models, and stock firmware tips
• Help & troubleshooting: something isn't working and you need a hand
If your problem is with a custom firmware, Help & troubleshooting is still the right place for fixes, while Custom firmware is for choosing, installing and getting the most out of one.
What belongs elsewhere
• Still choosing which RG to buy, or whether to buy Anbernic at all? Ask in Which handheld should I buy?
• New model announcements and leaks go in Handheld news & reviews
• Miyoo, TrimUI, Retroid and AYN devices have their own forums in the Handhelds category
Starter knowledge for new owners
• Anbernic sells both Linux and Android devices. Linux models boot straight into an emulation interface; Android models let you build your own setup with a frontend and emulators. Check which kind yours is before following a guide.
• On many Linux models, custom firmware gives you a nicer interface, better performance and extra features compared with stock. It usually runs from the SD card, so you can try it without changing the device permanently.
• The SD cards bundled with budget handhelds have a poor reputation. Move to a reputable card from a trusted seller, and keep a backup of your saves.
• Anbernic often releases several devices on the same chip in different shapes. A guide for one may well work on its siblings, but always check.
• Line-ups and firmware support change quickly. Check the latest threads rather than relying on old advice.
Legal and safety
KZE is homebrew-friendly but never piracy-friendly. No links to or requests for ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files, firmware dumps, keys or full sets, or where to find them. Many devices ship with a pre-loaded card; we don't discuss where its contents came from or how to get more. Dump your own games and BIOS. No malware, and no selling or paid services.
House rules
The general KZE rules apply throughout: be kind, English only (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. If something breaks the rules, use Report. This welcome thread is locked, so please start your thread in the right subforum.
