Welcome to PS Vita Hacking & firmware. This board is for getting homebrew running on your own Vita or PS TV and keeping it on the right firmware: HENkaku, Ensō, firmware status and the tools around them.
What belongs here
• Which hack suits your firmware and model.
• Installing HENkaku and making it permanent with Ensō where supported.
• Whether to update, stay put or change firmware.
• Recovery menus and safety nets.
What goes elsewhere
• Individual apps and plugins: Homebrew & plugins.
• SD2Vita and other storage setups: Mods & storage.
• A Vita that will not boot or behaves oddly: Help & troubleshooting.
• Chat and games: General discussion.
Starter knowledge
• HENkaku is the classic Vita hack. On its own it is temporary and needs re-applying after a full reboot.
• Ensō is a permanent bootloader hack that loads the hack every time the Vita starts. It only works on specific firmware versions, so check the guide for yours.
• Which methods work depends on your firmware, and the picture changes as new tools appear. Check the latest pinned news or ask before you update or downgrade.
• Do not accept official system updates on a Vita you want to hack until you have checked. Updates can be hard to undo.
• The PS TV can be hacked too, but some steps differ.
Safety first
1. Back up your saves before you start.
2. Charge fully and keep the Vita plugged in during any firmware change.
3. Follow the guide exactly, read every warning and do not skip the steps that check your setup.
4. Be very careful with anything that writes to the boot partition. A mistake there can brick the console.
How to ask
Include your model (PCH-1000, PCH-2000 or VTE-1000), your current firmware, what you are trying to do, which guide you followed and the exact error.
No piracy
Hacking here is for homebrew and backing up your own games. No links to or requests for commercial game files, licence files, keys, firmware files from unofficial sources or tools whose main purpose is downloading pirated games. Only discuss your own devices.
