Welcome to Switch Help & troubleshooting. If your original Switch, Switch Lite or Switch OLED is misbehaving, ask here. Stock consoles and consoles running legal homebrew are both welcome. What belongs here • Consoles that won't power on, won't charge, or get stuck on the logo. • Joy-Con drift, connection problems and controller pairing. • Dock problems: no TV picture, charging issues, third-party dock trouble. • SD card errors, corrupted data and storage management. • Game crashes, download problems and error codes. • Custom firmware problems, such as a setup that no longer boots after an update. What doesn't belong here • Project showcases and homebrew discussion go in Homebrew & modding. • General chat and accessory advice go in General discussion. • Game recommendations and news go in Games & news. • Switch 2 problems go in the Switch 2 forum. How to ask so people can help Please include: • Exact model: launch Switch, 2019 revised Switch, Switch Lite or Switch OLED. • System version, from System Settings. • Stock or modified. If modified, which custom firmware and bootloader versions, and whether you use emuMMC. • What you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. • Any error code or message, copied exactly. • What changed recently: an update, a new SD card, a drop, a new dock. • What you've already tried. Photos of the screen or the board help a lot for hardware problems. Things to try first 1. Hold the power button for around 12 seconds to force it off, then turn it on again. 2. Charge it with the official adapter for at least half an hour. A completely flat battery can look like a dead console. 3. For drift, recalibrate the sticks in System Settings, then try cleaning around the stick base before buying a replacement. 4. For SD card errors, test the card on a computer. Cheap and fake cards are a very common cause. 5. For modified consoles after a system update, check the latest pinned news before doing anything drastic. Tools often need updating to support a new firmware. Repairs and safety • Disconnect the battery before working inside, and use the right screwdrivers. The Switch uses a mix of tiny tri-wing and Phillips screws, and they're easy to strip. • Swollen batteries should be removed carefully and disposed of properly. Don't keep using them. • Thermal paste and fan replacements are common fixes for overheating, but take photos as you go. • Opening a console under warranty may affect that warranty. What we can't help with No help getting around bans, unbanning, or anything involving keys, firmware files or running copied games. If a modified console is banned online, that can't be undone here. When it's fixed Reply with what worked and add "Solved" to the start of your title so others can find the answer. House rules Be patient and kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Report anything that breaks the rules.
