Hey guys! Big week in tech.
INTEL CRASHES
Intel's shares fell about 29% on Friday after its results, reportedly the worst day since 1974. Its forecast came in under expectations, and Intel blamed high memory prices for weak PC sales. It expects PC shipments to fall about 12% this year.
THE MEMORY SHORTAGE
RAM prices are still painful. A 32GB DDR5 kit is still over $400 in the US. Prices are easing slightly, but it's hitting everything from PCs to Raspberry Pis.
APPLE
Apple launched its first touchscreen Macs (OLED MacBook Pros with Dynamic Island), an M6 iMac, an M6 MacBook Pro and an iPad mini with an OLED screen. They ship 6 November.
META
Meta plans to raise up to $95 billion to spend on AI.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
• Is the memory shortage the biggest tech story of the year?
• Touchscreen Mac: gimmick or overdue?
• Has anything in tech got you excited this year?
