Welcome to the Retroid Pocket forum. Retroid's Android handhelds have become a favourite for emulation, from the compact Retroid Pocket Mini and the vertical Retroid Pocket Classic to the clamshell Retroid Pocket Flip 2 and the larger Retroid Pocket 5 and 6. Whichever one you've got, or you're just curious, this is your home on KZE.
How this forum is organised
Threads go into one of three subforums:
• General discussion: news, your setup, accessories, first impressions, favourite games and general chat about Retroid devices
• Setup & emulation guides: how-tos and settings for frontends, emulators, controls, shaders and performance
• Help & troubleshooting: something isn't working and you need a hand fixing it
If you're unsure, ask yourself whether you're sharing, teaching or stuck. Sharing goes in General discussion, teaching in Setup & emulation guides, and stuck in Help & troubleshooting.
What belongs elsewhere
• Still deciding whether to buy a Retroid? Ask in Which handheld should I buy?
• Announcements of new Retroid models and leaks go in Handheld news & reviews
• AYN, Anbernic's Android models and other brands have their own forums in the Handhelds category
Starter knowledge for new owners
• Retroid devices run Android, so you choose your own setup. A typical one is a frontend such as ES-DE or Daijisho on top of standalone emulators and RetroArch.
• Do the first-time setup properly: update the system firmware, sign in only if you want the Play Store, and check the Retroid-specific settings for controller mode, fan and performance options.
• Put your games and BIOS files on a reputable SD card and keep a backup on your computer. Cheap and counterfeit cards are the most common cause of games vanishing.
• Emulator settings matter more than raw power. Resolution scaling, renderer choice and per-game settings make a big difference, and our Setup & emulation guides subforum is the place to learn them.
• Firmware and emulator versions change often. When you post a guide or a fix, say which device and versions you used.
Legal and safety
KZE is homebrew-friendly but never piracy-friendly. No links to or requests for ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files, firmware dumps, keys, cracked apps or paid emulators, and no hints about where to find them. Dump your own games and BIOS from hardware you own. If your device came with a pre-loaded SD card, we won't discuss where its contents came from. No malware, no modified APKs from unknown sources, and no selling or paid services.
House rules
The general KZE rules apply across every subforum: be kind, English only (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules. This welcome thread is locked, so pick the right subforum above and start your own thread.
