How to ask so people can help
1. Model number, for example CECH-2503 or CECH-4203.
2. Firmware: official, HFW or CFW, with its name and version.
3. Whether HEN or CFW is installed, and which plugins or homebrew you use.
4. What happens, including any error code, light colour and number of beeps.
5. When it started and whether anything changed.
6. What you have already tried.
A clear title helps: "CECH-4000 HEN fails to enable after update" gets better answers than "PS3 broken".
Quick things to try first
• Fully power off at the back or the wall, wait a minute and start again.
• Recovery mode, reached by holding the power button from off until the beeps, has options such as rebuilding the database. Some options erase data, so read each one carefully.
• If HEN will not enable, clear the browser data and try again.
• Remove any USB devices and try again.
A word on yellow lights
A yellow light on a fat model is often a hardware fault. Quick heat fixes rarely last. Ask before you try anything drastic.
