Welcome to PSP Hardware mods & repairs. If it involves a screwdriver, a soldering iron or a replacement part, it belongs here: screens, batteries, shells, UMD drives, memory card adapters, buttons and full restorations.
What belongs here
• Repair logs and restorations, from a single button to a full rebuild.
• Shell swaps and custom colour builds.
• Screen, battery and UMD drive replacements.
• Storage upgrades such as microSD to Memory Stick Pro Duo adapters.
• Questions about parts, tools and which revision of a part fits your model.
What goes elsewhere
• Software and firmware problems: Custom firmware or Help & troubleshooting.
• Apps and plugins: Homebrew & plugins.
• General chat and collection photos: General discussion.
• PSP Tube questions go in the PSP Tube forums under KZE apps & projects.
Showing off a build
Photos make a mod thread. Please include before and after pictures, a list of the parts you used, any problems you hit and how you solved them. If you followed someone else's guide or used their design, credit them.
Starter knowledge
• Parts are not always interchangeable between models. Screens, shells and ribbon cables for a 1000, 2000 and 3000 differ, so check your exact model number before buying.
• PSP Go uses Memory Stick Micro, not Pro Duo, so storage adapters are different.
• UMD drive problems are often a dirty or worn laser, or a tired drive mechanism. Cleaning is worth a try before replacing.
• Use the right screwdrivers. PSP screws are small and strip easily.
Safety
• Old lithium batteries can swell, leak or catch fire. Never puncture, crush or charge a swollen battery. Recycle it properly.
• Disconnect the battery before working on the motherboard.
• Solder in a ventilated space, use eye protection and watch out for hot tips around ribbon cables.
• Be careful with third-party chargers and batteries of unknown quality.
Selling and buying
This board is for repairs and builds, not trading. No selling, no paid repair services and no sharing personal details.
House rules
The usual KZE rules apply: be kind, post in English (anything else is translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report if something breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so start your own thread to share a build or ask a question.
