Welcome to Wii & Wii U Homebrew & mods. This board is for legal homebrew and hardware projects on both consoles: the Homebrew Channel, BootMii, Priiloader, Aroma, USB loaders, community online services, and portable Wii builds. What belongs here • Setting up the Homebrew Channel, BootMii and Priiloader on the Wii. • Aroma and homebrew on the Wii U, and modifying its Wii mode. • USB loaders and Nintendont, used with your own dumped games. • Community services that restore online play and channels. • Homebrew apps, games and your own projects. • Hardware mods: portable Wii builds, trimmed boards, HDMI mods, cooling and cosmetic projects. What doesn't belong here • If something has gone wrong and you need diagnosis, Help & troubleshooting may be quicker. • Game and collecting chat goes in General discussion. • GameCube-specific mods go in GameCube & N64. The piracy rules • No ISOs, WBFS files, WADs, game files, keys, common keys or firmware files, and no asking where to find them. • No piracy-focused tools or "packs" that bundle game files. • Dump your own discs and digital games from your own console, and keep them private. Starter knowledge for the Wii • Install BootMii and make a full NAND backup before anything else. Store it somewhere safe, off the SD card. • Install Priiloader for brick protection. It can save a console that would otherwise be lost. • Don't install random WADs, system menu changes or IOS files unless a current, trusted guide tells you to. These are the main causes of bricks. • The Wii Mini needs different methods and has fewer options. Starter knowledge for the Wii U • Aroma is the current homebrew environment most people use. Methods depend on your system version, so follow the current guide. • Back up your internal storage and keep it safe. • The Wii mode has its own homebrew setup, separate from the Wii U side. • Online play on a modified console carries risk. Don't cheat online. Portable builds and hardware safety • Portable Wii builds involve trimming the motherboard and fine soldering. Read existing build logs fully, and practise soldering first. • Use lithium batteries with proper protection circuits, insulate everything, and never charge a swollen pack. • Credit the designers of any boards, cases or guides you use, and post clear photos and a parts list. • No selling consoles, parts or modding services here. House rules Everything else in the KZE rules applies: be kind, English only (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam.
