Welcome to GameCube & N64 General discussion. This is the board for the games, the controllers, the collections and the memories: four-player GoldenEye nights, Melee tournaments, Wind Waker sailing and everything in between.
What belongs here
• Favourite games, hidden gems and recommendations.
• Collecting: boxed games, special-edition consoles, controllers, memory cards and accessories.
• Memories, history and the stories behind the games.
• Controllers: originals, wireless WaveBirds, and modern alternatives.
• Getting a decent picture on a modern TV, at a general level.
• Photos of your setup and collection.
What doesn't belong here
• Swiss, PicoBoot, GC Loader, HDMI mods, Expansion Paks, flashcarts and repairs go in Mods & upgrades. That's also the place for help with a broken console.
• Playing GameCube games on a Wii goes in Wii & Wii U.
• Older Nintendo hardware goes in NES, SNES & classic Nintendo.
Tips for newcomers
• Some N64 games require the Expansion Pak, such as Donkey Kong 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Others use it for extras.
• Original N64 controller sticks wear out with use. Test them before buying second-hand.
• GameCube memory cards come in different sizes. Official ones are generally more reliable than cheap third-party cards.
• GameCube controllers are still widely used for Smash Bros, so good originals hold their value.
• Fake cartridges and reproduction boxes exist for both consoles. Check carefully and ask if you're unsure.
• Composite video looks soft on modern TVs. Better cables and adapters exist; Mods & upgrades can help you choose.
Collecting tips
• Store discs away from heat and sunlight.
• Clean cartridge contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud.
• Boxes and manuals often matter more for value than the game itself.
What isn't allowed
• No ROMs, ISOs or where to find them, and no requests.
• No buying, selling or trading on this board.
• Crop personal details out of photos.
