Buying a used console
• Ask for the model number. On the PS2 it affects which mods and softmods are possible.
• Test the disc drive with a few different games. Tired lasers are common.
• Check controllers and memory cards, which wear out too.
• On fat PS2s, check whether the console has the expansion bay if you want an internal hard drive.
Display tips
Composite is the most common cable but not the best. Component on the PS2 and RGB SCART on either console look much sharper, especially through a decent upscaler or on a CRT.
Keep it friendly
Everyone has a favourite era and a favourite way to play. Share opinions kindly.
No piracy
Talking about games is great; asking where to download them is not. No links to or requests for ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files or where to find them. Rip your own discs.
