Welcome to the Wii & Wii U forum. This is KZE's home for two of Nintendo's most homebrew-friendly home consoles: the Wii, Wii Family Edition and Wii Mini, and the Wii U. Games, the Homebrew Channel, Aroma, USB loaders, portable Wii builds and repairs all belong here. How this forum is organised • General discussion: games, collecting, setups, accessories and memories. • Homebrew & mods: the Homebrew Channel, BootMii, Priiloader, Aroma, USB loaders, community online services and portable Wii builds. • Help & troubleshooting: anything that isn't working, stock or modified. Where else to post • GameCube hardware, Swiss and GameCube mods go in GameCube & N64. Running GameCube games on a Wii is fine here. • Switch topics go in the Switch or Switch 2 forums. • Virtual Console discussion about older systems is fine here; hardware for those systems has its own forums. The consoles at a glance • Original Wii: plays GameCube games and has GameCube controller and memory card ports on most early models. • Wii Family Edition: a later, horizontal-only model without GameCube support. • Wii Mini: a stripped-down model with no internet, no SD slot and limited outputs. It's the most awkward for homebrew. • Wii U: HD successor with the GamePad. Plays Wii games through its built-in Wii mode, often called vWii. Homebrew in a nutshell • On the Wii, the Homebrew Channel is the starting point. BootMii lets you make a full NAND backup, and Priiloader adds brick protection. Do both before anything else. • On the Wii U, Aroma is the current homebrew environment for most people. The Wii mode can also be modified separately. • USB loaders let you play your own dumped games from a USB drive, which saves wear on the disc drive. • Methods depend on your system version and change over time, so follow the current community guide and ask if anything is unclear. Online Nintendo has shut down official online play on both consoles. Community-run services restore some online features and channels; ask in the forum for the current state. The legal bit KZE is homebrew-friendly, never piracy-friendly. No ISOs, WADs, game files, keys or firmware files, and no asking where to find them. Dump your own discs with your own console and keep them to yourself. House rules All the usual KZE rules apply: be kind, write in English (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing, and no self-promotion spam. Please Report anything that breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so start your own thread in the right subforum. Dexter
