How to ask so people can help
Please include:
• Exact model: DS, DS Lite, DSi or DSi XL, and its region.
• Stock or modified. If modified, which flashcart, which TWiLight Menu++ or Unlaunch version, and whether you have a NAND backup.
• What you were doing, what you expected and what happened.
• Any error message, copied exactly, or a clear photo of the screen.
• What you've already tried.
Common problems and first steps
1. One screen is black on a DS Lite: often a damaged ribbon cable in the hinge. Photos of the hinge help.
2. Touch screen is inaccurate: recalibrate it in the system settings. If that fails, the digitiser may need replacing.
3. Cartridge won't load: clean the contacts with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud and check the slot pins aren't bent.
4. Flashcart has suddenly stopped working: some clone carts have firmware that stops after a set date. Ask before trying fixes.
5. DSi won't boot after a homebrew change: stop and ask before trying anything else. Your NAND backup matters here.
6. Can't connect to Wi-Fi: original DS games only support older security. DSi-enhanced software supports newer standards.
Safety
• Disconnect the battery before opening the console.
• Swollen or damaged batteries should never be charged or used.
• Be gentle with ribbon cables and connector latches.
What we can't help with
No ROMs, game files, BIOS or firmware files, or where to find them. Test flashcarts with homebrew or your own dumps.
