• 3DS hardware and games go in 3DS & 2DS.
Choosing a model
• DS Lite: the most popular choice. Bright screens and a GBA slot, but the hinge can crack, so check it carefully.
• Original DS: sturdier in some ways, also has a GBA slot, but a dimmer screen.
• DSi and DSi XL: no GBA slot, but cameras, an SD card slot and more power. The XL is comfortable for big hands and long sessions.
• A 3DS or 2DS plays almost every DS game too, though the picture is scaled or shown smaller.
Collecting tips
• Fake DS cartridges are common. Look at the label print, the plastic and the code stamped on the cart, and ask if you're unsure.
• Some games use the GBA slot for add-ons, which won't work on a DSi or 3DS.
• Clean cartridge contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud.
• Boxes and manuals can be harder to find than the games themselves.
What isn't allowed
• No ROMs, game files or where to find them, and no requests.
• No buying, selling or trading on this board.
• Crop personal details out of photos.
