Starter knowledge
• Jailbreak support depends on your device's chip and its exact iOS version, down to the minor release. Find both in Settings, General, About before asking.
• Older devices with chips from the A5 to the A11 are affected by the checkm8 bootrom exploit, which Apple cannot patch with software. Newer devices rely on software exploits that come and go.
• If you want to jailbreak, do not update just because a prompt appears. Once Apple stops signing a version you usually cannot go back to it.
• Most modern jailbreaks are semi-untethered or similar: after a reboot you re-run the tool to re-enable tweaks.
• We do not state which versions are jailbreakable in this thread because it changes. Check the jailbreak developers' own announcements.
Risks
• Jailbreaking lowers your device's security. Install tweaks only from trusted sources.
• Banking and some other apps may detect a jailbreak and refuse to run.
• Bad tweaks can cause boot loops. Know how to boot without tweaks and keep a backup.
• Fake jailbreak websites that ask you to install profiles, complete surveys or pay are scams.
Rules
• No piracy: no cracked IPAs, no piracy repositories, no tweaks that unlock paid features for free.
• No Activation Lock or passcode bypasses for devices that are not yours.
• No malware and no paid jailbreak services.
