Welcome to PS5 General discussion. This is the catch-all for everything PS5 and PS5 Pro: setups, accessories, storage, buying advice, PlayStation Plus and anything else that does not have a more specific home.
What belongs here
• Your setup: TVs, monitors, headsets, stands and how you have arranged it all.
• Which model to buy, and how the original, slim and Pro differ.
• Storage upgrades and accessories, in general terms.
• PlayStation Plus, the store and system features.
• Questions that are not quite a problem but you would like opinions on.
What goes elsewhere
• Firmware updates, announcements and leaks: News & rumours.
• Exploits and homebrew: Jailbreak & homebrew.
• What you are playing and trophy hunting: Games & trophies.
• Frustrations and hot takes: Rants & opinions.
• Something broken or not working: Help & troubleshooting.
• Remote Play and the PlayStation Portal: PlayStation Portal & Remote Play.
Starter knowledge
• The PS5 has an internal M.2 slot for extra storage. Sony publishes requirements for compatible drives, and a heatsink is recommended. Check the official guidance before buying.
• PS5 games must be played from internal or M.2 storage, while PS4 games can run from USB extended storage.
• Disc and Digital Edition models play the same games. The difference is the disc drive, and some later models can add one.
• Rest mode is handy for downloads and charging controllers, but if you have problems, a full shutdown is a good first step.
Keep it friendly
Console debates are fine, console wars are not. Respect people's choices of hardware and how they like to play.
Legal stuff
No links to or requests for pirated games, account sharing, cheats for online play or anything else that breaks the law or Sony's terms in ways that harm other players. No selling or paid services.
House rules
The usual KZE rules apply: be kind, post in English (anything else is translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report rather than arguing. This thread is locked, so start a new thread to join the conversation.
