Welcome to the GameCube & N64 forum. This is KZE's home for two of Nintendo's best-loved home consoles: the Nintendo 64 and the GameCube. Classic games, collecting, Swiss, optical drive emulators, HDMI mods, Expansion Paks and repairs all belong here.
How this forum is organised
• General discussion: games, collecting, memories, controllers and accessories.
• Mods & upgrades: Swiss, PicoBoot, GC Loader, SD card adapters, HDMI and video mods, Expansion Paks, flashcarts and repairs.
If you're asking for help with a mod or repair, Mods & upgrades is the right place. Help with finding a game or a controller can go in General discussion.
Where else to post
• Playing GameCube games on a Wii, and Wii homebrew, go in Wii & Wii U.
• NES, SNES and older hardware go in NES, SNES & classic Nintendo.
• N64 and GameCube games on Switch Online belong in the Switch or Switch 2 forums.
The consoles at a glance
• Nintendo 64: cartridge-based, with a four-player controller setup. Some games need the Expansion Pak for extra memory, and a few use it for higher resolution or extra features. Without it, the console needs the Jumper Pak fitted.
• GameCube: mini disc-based, with memory cards. The earlier model (DOL-001) has a digital AV port and a second serial port, which some mods and adapters use. The later model (DOL-101) dropped them.
Starter knowledge
• Swiss is a homebrew loader for the GameCube. It can run homebrew and your own dumped games from SD cards and other storage.
• PicoBoot is a small modchip that boots straight into homebrew. GC Loader is an optical drive emulator that replaces the disc drive.
• SD card adapters can plug into the serial port on DOL-001 consoles or the memory card slots.
• HDMI mods and adapters for both consoles range from simple plug-in adapters to internal installs. Quality and lag vary a lot, so ask before buying.
• N64 analogue sticks wear out. Replacement sticks and modern controllers vary in feel, and opinions differ.
• Clean cartridge contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud.
The legal bit
KZE is homebrew-friendly, never piracy-friendly. No ROMs, ISOs, BIOS or IPL files, and no asking where to find them. Flashcarts and optical drive emulators are welcome for homebrew and your own dumped games. Dump your own cartridges and discs.
House rules
All the usual KZE rules apply: be kind, write in English (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so start your own thread in the subforum that fits.
