Welcome to Arcade, MAME & cabinets. This board is for everything arcade, whether you are emulating with MAME, building a cabinet in your garage, choosing parts for a fight stick or keeping a real pinball table alive. What belongs here • MAME, FinalBurn Neo and other arcade emulators • Cabinet builds: full-size, bartop, cocktail and pedestal • Arcade sticks, buttons, encoders, spinners, trackballs and light guns • Original arcade hardware: PCBs, JAMMA, Superguns and cabinet restoration • Pinball: real tables, virtual pinball and digital pinball games What doesn't • General PC emulator problems: PC emulation • Raspberry Pi images and small Pi builds: Raspberry Pi gaming • Scanline shaders and bezels: Shaders, bezels & CRT looks • Consumer CRT televisions and upscalers: CRT gaming • Neo Geo AES and other home consoles: Neo Geo, PC Engine & cult consoles How to ask so people can help 1. The emulator and its exact version 2. The game and the exact error message MAME gives, if any 3. Your hardware: PC or Pi, controls and encoder 4. For cabinets and PCBs: the monitor type, the wiring standard and photos 5. What you have already tried Starter knowledge • MAME is very strict about versions. Game files that worked with one version may be reported as missing or incorrect in another, because the emulator's expectations change as dumps are improved. Always say which version you are using. • Some arcade games need extra files such as shared BIOS or device files from the original board. These must come from hardware you own. • Joystick restrictors matter. Some classic games are designed for 4-way control and feel wrong with an 8-way stick, so a switchable or gated stick helps. • Encoders turn button presses into keyboard or controller input. Plan your wiring before you start drilling panels. • A Supergun lets you play a JAMMA board on a home setup. Check the board's pinout and power needs before connecting anything. Safety Arcade monitors are CRTs and can hold a dangerous charge long after they are unplugged. Never work inside a monitor chassis unless you know how to discharge it safely; otherwise leave it to someone who does. Cabinets often have exposed mains wiring, so unplug before opening them. Cabinets are heavy too, so get help moving them. Legal Emulators and hardware are welcome topics, piracy is not. Do not link, share or request ROMs, CHDs, BIOS files or full sets, and do not ask where to find them. No selling cabinets, PCBs or parts, no paid services and no promoting machines that come loaded with games. No malware. The usual house rules apply: be kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Report anything that breaks the rules.
