Starter knowledge
• Watch compatibility varies. Some watches only work with one phone platform, and some features depend on the phone brand. Check before you buy.
• Open-source companion apps can let you use some wearables without the manufacturer's account or cloud, but support differs from model to model.
• Flashing custom firmware onto a watch or band can brick it, and recovery is often harder than on a phone. Follow instructions for your exact model and hardware revision.
• Making watch faces is a great first project. Many platforms have official tools for designing them.
• Fitness and health readings are estimates. Wearables are not medical devices, so speak to a professional if you have health concerns.
Privacy
Wearables collect a lot of personal data: location, heart rate, sleep and more. Be careful what you share in screenshots and exports, and remove names, routes that show your home and anything else personal before posting.
Legal and safety rules
• No pirated paid watch faces or apps, and no help finding them. Support creators or use free options.
• No bypassing activation or account locks on wearables that are not yours.
• No tracking or monitoring other people without their knowledge.
• No selling, trading or paid services.
When you ask for help
Include the exact watch model, its software version, your phone model and OS version, what you were doing and the exact error.
