How to ask so people can help
1. Printer model, any upgrades, and the firmware it runs
2. Slicer and version, plus the key settings: layer height, speeds, temperatures, retraction and supports
3. Material: type, brand, and whether it has been dried
4. Photos of the problem, close up and in good light, including the first layer and the underside
5. What you expected versus what actually happened
6. What you have already tried
7. Any error messages from the printer
Common culprits worth checking first
• First layer: re-level the bed or rerun mesh levelling, adjust the Z offset and clean the plate with washing-up liquid and water or isopropyl alcohol.
• Wet filament causes stringing, popping and weak prints. Dry it.
• Partial clogs: check the nozzle, the PTFE tube seating and the extruder tension.
• Warping with ABS or ASA usually means the print needs an enclosure, a warmer bed and no draughts.
• Layer shifts often come from loose belts, the nozzle catching on curled plastic, or overheating stepper drivers.
• Resin failures are often down to exposure times, supports or a worn release film.
Safety while troubleshooting
• Let the hotend cool, or take real care, before clearing clogs.
• Unplug before touching wiring, and leave the power supply's mains side to qualified people.
• Wear nitrile gloves and eye protection around resin, and ventilate.
• Never disable thermal runaway protection.
