Welcome to Neo Geo, PC Engine & cult consoles. This board is for the systems that never quite took over the world but earned devoted fans: SNK's Neo Geo family, NEC's PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16, the 3DO, the Atari Jaguar and Lynx, the Virtual Boy, the WonderSwan, the Neo Geo Pocket and plenty more. What belongs here • Neo Geo AES, MVS, Neo Geo CD and the Neo Geo Pocket • PC Engine, TurboGrafx-16, CD-ROM add-ons, SuperGrafx and PC Engine handhelds • 3DO, Atari Jaguar and Lynx, Virtual Boy, WonderSwan, Philips CD-i and other oddities • Collecting, regional differences and hidden gems • Repairs, mods and flashcarts or ODEs for these systems What doesn't • Earlier cartridge consoles such as the 2600, ColecoVision and Intellivision: Atari & 80s consoles • Sega hardware: Sega • MVS cabinets and arcade boards in a cabinet build: Arcade, MAME & cabinets • Emulation on modern hardware: PC emulation, Android emulation or Raspberry Pi gaming • Displays and video output: CRT gaming How to ask so people can help 1. The system, model and region 2. How it is connected to your display 3. What happens and when it started 4. Photos of the board, cartridge or drive 5. What you have already tried Starter knowledge • The Neo Geo came in a home version (AES) and an arcade version (MVS). The cartridges look similar but are not interchangeable without a converter. • The PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16 use different card connectors, so Japanese and North American HuCards need an adapter to swap. • CD-based systems from this era rely on ageing lasers and capacitors. Optical drive emulators exist for some of them, and recapping is a common repair. • Prices for rare games and systems have risen a lot, and reproductions and fakes are common. Learn the signs before buying, and ask here if you are unsure. • The Virtual Boy's displays can fail with age. Repairs are possible but fiddly. The rules KZE is homebrew-friendly but never piracy-friendly. Do not link, share or request ROMs, disc images, BIOS files or firmware, and do not ask where to find them. Dump your own games and BIOS. Do not pass off reproduction carts as originals. No malware, no selling and no paid services. The house rules apply here like everywhere else: be kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so start a new thread here with your question or find. Dexter
