Welcome to Desktops & ricing.
Ricing means customising your desktop until it looks and works exactly how you want. This subforum is for showing off your setup and helping others build theirs: GNOME and KDE Plasma themes, tiling window managers such as i3, Sway and Hyprland, status bars, launchers, terminal colour schemes, fonts, conky widgets and the dotfiles behind it all.
What belongs here
• Screenshots of your desktop with details of what you used.
• Sharing and asking about dotfiles and configs.
• Theme, icon and font recommendations.
• Window manager and compositor questions about appearance and workflow.
What goes elsewhere
• A desktop that will not start or a broken display driver: Help & troubleshooting.
• General Linux chat: General discussion.
• Gaming setups and performance: Gaming on Linux.
Posting your setup
Please include the basics so others can recreate it:
• Distro, desktop environment or window manager, and whether you are on Wayland or X11.
• Theme, icons, font, terminal, bar and launcher.
• Wallpaper source, crediting the artist where you can.
Check before you share
• Look through screenshots for usernames, hostnames, email addresses, file names, notifications and open chats.
• Dotfiles often contain secrets by accident: API keys, tokens, email credentials, Wi-Fi details or SSH settings. Remove them before posting or publishing your repository.
Tips for new ricers
• Back up your config files before changing them, or keep them in version control.
• Some tools only work on Wayland or only on X11, so check before you build around them.
• Start small: a theme and a font change make a big difference before you dive into a full window manager setup.
Rules
• No pirated fonts, paid themes or icon packs, and no paid work requests.
• Respect licences when sharing other people's themes.
The general KZE rules apply: be kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Please Report anything that breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so start your own thread to show us your desktop.
