Choosing a model
• The New models have a faster processor, more memory, a C-stick and ZL and ZR buttons. A small number of games are New-only, and others run noticeably better.
• The XL models have bigger screens, but the resolution is the same, so they look softer up close.
• The 2DS and New 2DS XL drop the 3D effect. Many people never used it anyway.
• Screen panels differ between units of the same model, and some people care a lot about which type they get. Ask if it matters to you.
• When buying second-hand, test both screens, the hinge, the buttons, the circle pad, the cartridge slot and the charging port.
Collecting tips
• Fake cartridges exist, especially for popular titles. Compare with known genuine examples and ask if you're unsure.
• The 3DS cartridge slot also plays DS games, so a 3DS covers two libraries.
• The eShop no longer sells games, so physical copies are the main way to buy many titles now.
What isn't allowed
• No ROMs, CIAs, game files or where to find them, and no requests.
• No buying, selling or trading on this board.
• Crop personal details out of photos, including friend codes if you'd rather keep them private.
