Welcome to Custom tech & builds Anything you have designed, built, modded or invented that does not have a more specific home. Desk gadgets, macro pads, mechanical keyboards, custom controllers, restored and upgraded old tech, odd robots, art pieces with blinking lights, workshop tools and one-off contraptions. If you made it and you are proud of it, it fits. What belongs here • Finished builds and inventions • Works in progress and build logs • Restorations and upgrades of old-but-salvageable tech • Ideas you want to bounce off other makers What goes elsewhere Several boards in Makers & DIY are more specific, and your thread will get more eyes there: • ESP32, Arduino and Pico projects: ESP32 & microcontrollers • Raspberry Pi and SBC projects: Raspberry Pi & SBCs • Prints and printers: 3D printing • Portable computers: Cyberdecks • Handheld consoles: DIY handhelds & portables • Circuit and PCB design: Electronics & PCB design • Home automation: Smart home & IoT • Laser and CNC work: Laser cutting & CNC Making a good build post 1. Photos, and a video if it moves or lights up 2. What it does and why you made it 3. A parts list 4. Diagrams, code or files you are able to share 5. What was hard and how you got past it 6. Credit for every design, guide and library you built on Credit and licences Share only files you have the right to share. Do not reupload paid or non-commercial designs, and follow the licence of anything you remix. Safety is part of the rules • Lithium batteries need protection circuits and the right charger. Never puncture them, charge on a non-flammable surface and retire swollen cells. • Anything connected to mains must be designed, wired and enclosed by someone qualified. We will not help anyone bodge mains. • Size power supplies for the real load, and fuse where it makes sense. • Wear eye protection when cutting, drilling or soldering, and ventilate. If a build could hurt someone, expect members to say so. That is part of how this board works. Board rules • No malware, no devices meant to interfere with other people's networks or property, and nothing piracy-friendly. • No selling, no paid services and no commissions. The house rules apply: be kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report if you see something wrong.
