Welcome to Gaming on Linux.
Gaming on Linux has come a long way. This subforum is for playing games on Linux desktops, laptops and handhelds: Steam and Proton, Lutris, Heroic for Epic and GOG, Bottles, native Linux games, emulators, controllers, performance tuning and SteamOS-style living-room setups.
What belongs here
• Getting a particular game working, and sharing what worked for you.
• Proton versions, launch options and compatibility tips.
• Graphics drivers, performance and tools like MangoHud and Gamescope.
• Handheld PCs and couch gaming setups.
• Emulators on Linux.
What goes elsewhere
• General system problems not related to games: Help & troubleshooting.
• Distro chat: General discussion.
• Choosing hardware: PC building & upgrades.
• PSP and retro emulation in depth may fit better in KZE's emulation sections.
Starter knowledge
• Proton is a compatibility layer built into Steam that lets many Windows games run on Linux. ProtonDB collects player reports, which is a good first stop for any game.
• Some multiplayer games use anti-cheat that blocks Linux. That is the developer's choice, and there is no safe or acceptable way around it, so please do not ask for one.
• Graphics drivers matter. AMD and Intel use open-source drivers included with most distros, while Nvidia users usually install Nvidia's driver. Your distro's documentation is the best guide.
• Shader compilation can make the first run of a game stutter. It usually settles down.
When you ask for help
Include your distro and version, kernel version, CPU and graphics card, driver version, how you launched the game (Steam, Lutris, Heroic) and which Proton or Wine version, plus any error text or relevant log lines.
Rules
• No piracy: no cracked games, repacks, keys or sites for finding them.
• No cheats, anti-cheat bypasses or tools that give an unfair advantage online.
• No selling accounts, keys or services.
The general KZE rules apply: be kind, English only (posts in other languages are translated automatically), no spam, no keyboard mashing and no self-promotion spam. Use Report on anything that breaks the rules. This thread is locked, so start your own thread for questions.
