Welcome to Game Boy General discussion. This is the place to talk about the games, the consoles and the memories: from the original grey brick through the Color and Advance to the SP and the Micro. What belongs here • Favourite games, hidden gems and "what should I play next?" threads. • Collections: boxed games, special-edition consoles, accessories and displays. • Memories and history: link cables, the Game Boy Camera and Printer, the e-Reader. • Which console to buy for which games, and how they compare. • Photos of your consoles, stock or modded. What doesn't belong here • Detailed mod build logs, screen kits and shell swap advice go in Mods & shell swaps. • Making your own games, GB Studio and homebrew releases go in Homebrew & GB Studio. • If something is broken or behaving oddly, ask in Help & troubleshooting. Tips for collectors • Fakes are common, especially for popular titles like the Pokémon games. Check the label quality, the board inside, and the printed codes. If in doubt, post photos and ask. • Many carts that save use a coin battery that eventually runs flat. A dead battery means a lost save, not a dead game, and it can be replaced. Back up your save first if it matters to you. • Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal also use that battery for the in-game clock. • Yellowed shells and sticky labels can often be improved, but test cleaning methods somewhere hidden first. Isopropyl alcohol on a cotton bud is the classic way to clean cartridge contacts. • Boxes and manuals usually matter more to a collection's value than the cart alone. Which console for which games • Original Game Boy games play on everything up to the GBA SP, but not on the Micro. • Game Boy Color games need a Color, an Advance or an SP. Some are labelled as compatible with the original Game Boy too. • GBA games play on the Advance, SP, Micro, and the original DS and DS Lite. What isn't allowed • No ROMs, BIOS files, or where to find them, and no requests. • No buying, selling or trading here. • Share photos, but crop out addresses and anything personal. House rules The KZE house rules apply: be kind, English only (other languages are translated automatically), and no spam, keyboard mashing or self-promotion spam. Use Report if you see something that breaks them. This thread is locked, so start your own thread to share your collection or memories. Dexter
