Welcome to Switch General discussion. This is the easy-going board for the original Switch family: the launch model, the 2019 revision, the Switch Lite and the Switch OLED. If you want to chat about your console rather than fix it, mod it or review a game, you're in the right place.
What belongs here
• Setups, docks, carry cases, grips and travel kits.
• Accessories: Pro Controllers, third-party controllers, screen protectors, headsets.
• Comparisons between models, and whether to upgrade or keep what you have.
• Collections, special editions and limited-edition consoles.
• Life with an original Switch now that Switch 2 exists.
• General chat that doesn't fit the other boards.
What doesn't belong here
• Custom firmware, homebrew apps, themes and hardware mods go in Homebrew & modding.
• Game releases, recommendations and Nintendo news go in Games & news.
• Anything broken, from Joy-Con drift to a console that won't boot, goes in Help & troubleshooting.
• Switch 2 topics go in the Switch 2 forum.
Good to know
• Joy-Con drift is common on older controllers. It's often fixable by cleaning or replacing the stick module, and Help & troubleshooting is the place to ask about it.
• The Switch OLED and the 2019 revision have noticeably better battery life than the launch model, which matters if you mostly play handheld.
• The Switch Lite can't output to a TV and its controls are built in, so it's a different experience. Ask if you're unsure which suits you.
• If you're buying second-hand, check the serial number, test both Joy-Con, try the console in the dock and make sure the previous owner has removed their account.
Sharing photos
Photos of setups and collections are very welcome. Crop out anything personal: addresses on packaging, account names you'd rather keep private, and anything visible through a window.
What isn't allowed
• No buying, selling or trading here. Recommending a product is fine; affiliate links and repeated plugs for your own shop are not.
• No ROMs, game files, keys or where to find them, and no talking about running copied games.
• No account selling or sharing.
House rules
Be kind, keep it in English (posts in other languages are translated automatically), and no spam, keyboard mashing or self-promotion spam. If something breaks the rules, please Report it. This thread is locked, so start a thread of your own to join in.
