Other PlayStation forums
Newer consoles live in PS4 and PS5. If you are playing PS1 or PS2 games on real classic hardware, PS1 & PS2 is the place. Handhelds have PSP and PS Vita & PS TV.
The models at a glance
• Fat models (CECHA to CECHQ series): the originals. Some early ones play PS2 discs through hardware or partial hardware.
• Slim models (CECH-2000 to CECH-3000 series).
• Super Slim models (CECH-4000 series): top-loading disc drive.
CFW or HEN?
Not every PS3 can run full custom firmware. It depends on the model and the minimum firmware it shipped with. Consoles that cannot run CFW can usually use HEN on top of Hybrid Firmware instead. Check the pinned guides in CFW, HFW & HEN, which explain how to test your console before you choose.
Safety basics
• Never pull the power during a firmware install.
• Back up your saves and data before you start.
• Before installing CFW, dump and verify your flash memory as the guides describe. That backup can save a bricked console.
• Many fat PS3s suffer from heat over the years. Cleaning and fresh thermal paste help, and proper repairs last longer than quick fixes.
The rules that matter most here
KZE is homebrew-friendly but never piracy-friendly. No links to or requests for game ISOs, PKGs of paid games, licence files, firmware files from unofficial sources, keys or where to find them. Back up your own discs and digital purchases. Only discuss hacking your own console. No online cheating tools, no malware and no selling or paid services.
